A member of the rich, free Black relatives, Galen Vachon has a lot to lose when he decides to become a member on the Underground railroad network, and be a part of the hassle to free enslaved Southerners. His dangerous lifestyle catches up with him when, attacked and wounded, he is pressured to seek sanctuary from the basement of a stranger.
